Caroline Ward

Articling Student

Caroline is a recent Dual JD graduate of Windsor Law and Detroit Mercy Law and an articling student at Derstine Bariteau.

Prior to pursuing her JD degrees, Caroline earned a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Criminology from the University of Ottawa. During her bachelor degree, Caroline developed an interest in social justice and advocacy. Caroline’s experience working in the homeless shelter system in both Ottawa and Fredericton furthered this passion where she advocated for program improvements to better support individuals experiencing homelessness.

During law school, Caroline participated in several prestigious mooting competitions in both the United States and Canada. Including the Herbert Wechsler National Criminal Law Moot Court Competition, the Leroy R. Hassell Sr. National Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition, and the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association Moot Competition. It was here where Caroline’s interest in legal advocacy flourished.

Caroline’s commitment to justice is also reflected in her volunteer work throughout law school with Pro Bono Students Canada and the If/When/How Club, where she led initiatives related to government identification access and reproductive justice.

Fluent in French and English, Caroline is well-equipped to serve a diverse range of clients navigating the criminal justice system, and is committed to making a positive impact in the legal field.
